To our dear colleagues, clients and friends,

We at VCFI and VCEFT are grief stricken by the overt racism we have witnessed recently in the United States and within our own country. Listening to our BIPOC colleagues, our eyes have been opened to the covert systemic racism that is in the air we breathe. We stand together with our marginalized communities, to fight racism and discrimination based on colour, faith, gender, and sexuality. We pledge to create an environment that promotes inclusivity, dignity and respect and above all celebrates our exquisite diversity.

To the Tk’emlups te secwepemic First Nation and all nations in the region

We acknowledge the devastating confirmation of the discovery of the remains of 215 children that were recently located in a mass grave on the grounds of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School. We shed tears with the First Nation families and communities who are grieving.

We shed tears for the grief that is in the present, as well the past, for those parents and families who lived with the terrible loss and trauma of never knowing what happened to their children.
